Ingredients

6 English muffins, split in half

1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled

8 large eggs

1 cup milk

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the crumbled breakfast sausage. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is browned and thoroughly cooked. If there's excess grease, drain it off and set the sausage aside.

Prepare the Muffins: Lightly toast the English muffin halves until they are just golden brown. You can do this in the oven or a toaster. Once toasted, arrange the muffin halves in a 9x13-inch baking dish, with the cut sides facing up.

Combine the Egg Mixture: In a spacious mixing bowl, crack in the 8 large eggs. Add the cup of milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Whisk everything together until well combined and frothy.

Layer the Ingredients: Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the English muffin halves in the baking dish. Next, carefully pour the egg mixture over the muffins and sausage, ensuring every piece is well-coated.

Top with Cheese: Generously sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese on top of the egg mixture, allowing it to cover the dish evenly.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. Place it in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes. After this, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the egg is set and the cheese has melted into a bubbly, golden layer.

Serve: Once baked, take the dish out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Before serving, garnish with freshly chopped chives. Cut into squares and enjoy this delicious bake while warm!
