Ingredients

2 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)

1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup onion, finely chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

8 slider buns

1 cup coleslaw mix (optional, for topping)

Sliced pickles (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Pork: Start by patting the pork shoulder dry using paper towels. This step helps the seasoning adhere better. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper (if you prefer some heat). Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's coated evenly for maximum flavor.

Sauté Aromatics: Heat a splash of oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing them until they become soft and translucent, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes. Once done, remove the skillet from heat and set aside.

Slow Cook the Pork: Place the seasoned pork shoulder into your slow cooker. Carefully pour the sautéed onions and garlic over the top of the pork. Add the BBQ sauce, making sure it thoroughly covers the meat. Secure the lid on the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds apart.

Shred the Pork: After cooking, gently remove the pork from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large cutting board. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, mixing it well with the BBQ sauce until everything is combined beautifully.

Prepare Sliders: While the pulled pork is soaking up all those delicious flavors, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully slice the slider buns in half and arrange the bottom halves on a baking sheet, ready to be filled.

Assemble Sliders: Generously spoon the pulled pork mixture onto each bottom bun. If you want a bit of crunch, add a scoop of coleslaw on top of the pork. Finish by placing the top buns over the filled ones. For an extra touch of flavor and a lovely golden-brown color, you can brush the tops with a little melted butter.

Bake: Place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the buns are lightly toasted and the filling is warmed through.

Serve and Enjoy: Once the sliders are golden and warm, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a minute or two. Serve with sliced pickles on the side for an extra pop of flavor!

Prep Time: 15 min | Total Time: 8 hrs 30 min | Servings: 8 sliders

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve the sliders on a rustic wooden board or platter, garnished with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of paprika for color. Don’t forget the pickles for that added crunch! Enjoy your delicious creation!
