Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 cup finely chopped cremini or button mushrooms

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 slices Swiss cheese

12 mini slider buns

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Sauté the Mushrooms: In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Allow the oil to heat up, then add the finely chopped mushrooms and diced onion. Sauté them together until the mushrooms release their moisture and the onions are translucent, approximately 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, the sautéed mushroom mixture, salt, and pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to gently mix the ingredients until they are well incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.

Form the Patties: Divide the beef mixture into 12 equal portions. Gently shape each portion into small patties, ensuring they are roughly the same size as your slider buns for easy assembly.

Cook the Sliders: In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty to allow it to melt perfectly.

Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, slice the mini slider buns in half. If you like a little crunch, toast the cut sides in a clean skillet over medium heat until they turn golden brown.

Assemble the Sliders: To assemble, place each patty with the melted Swiss cheese on the bottom half of a slider bun. Top with the other half of the bun to complete the slider.

Serve: Optionally garnish the sliders with fresh thyme leaves for a pop of color and flavor. Serve them warm alongside crispy fries or a fresh salad for the perfect meal!
