Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 lb chicken breast, sliced into uniform strips

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Cooking spray or light olive oil spray

For the Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.

      - Add the chicken strips to the marinade, ensuring every piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for more intense flavor infusion.

        Prepare the Breading:

          - Set up a breading station: Place the flour in a shallow dish and the panko breadcrumbs in another.

            - Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess buttermilk to drip off. Lightly coat each strip in the flour, shaking off any extra. Dip it back into the buttermilk, then roll it in the panko breadcrumbs, press lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere.

              Preheat the Air Fryer:

                - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for approximately 5 minutes. This short preheating ensures the tenders become crispy.

                  Air Fry the Chicken Tenders:

                    - Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the breaded chicken tenders in a single layer within the basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.

                      - Lightly spray the tops of the chicken tenders with olive oil spray. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping the tenders halfway through the cooking time. The chicken should be golden brown and have an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) when fully cooked.

                        Prepare the Dipping Sauce:

                          - While the chicken is cooking, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, and salt and pepper in a small mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended, adjusting the seasoning as needed to balance the flavors.

                            Serve:

                              - Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and allow them to rest for a few minutes to retain juiciness. Serve hot with the prepared dipping sauce on the side for an added flavor kick.

                                Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 4

                                  - Presentation Tips: Arrange the chicken tenders on a platter and garnish with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of paprika for a pop of color. Serve with the dipping sauce in a small bowl nestled in the center for an inviting look.
