Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 pound chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for an extra kick)

Olive oil spray

For the Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh dill or parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

      - Add the chicken tenders to the bowl, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours to fully develop the flavors.

        Prepare the Breading Station:

          - Organize your breading station with three shallow dishes:

Place the all-purpose flour in the first dish.

Pour the leftover buttermilk marinade into the second dish for a second dip.

In the third dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs, cayenne pepper (if using), and a pinch of salt and black pepper.

                  Bread the Chicken Tenders:

                    - Remove the chicken tenders from the marinade, allowing the excess to drip off.

                      - Dredge each tender in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip it back into the buttermilk mixture, and finally, coat it with the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.

                        Preheat the Air Fryer:

                          - Set your air fryer to preheat at 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This step ensures that the chicken tenders will cook evenly.

                            Air Fry the Chicken Tenders:

                              - Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to minimize sticking. Arrange the breaded chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket, making sure they are not touching each other (you may need to cook in batches).

                                - Give the tops of the chicken tenders a light spray of olive oil to encourage browning.

                                  - Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until the tenders are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Ensure their internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) for safe consumption.

                                    Make the Dipping Sauce:

                                      - In a small mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, and apple cider vinegar. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, fold in some chopped fresh dill or parsley for added freshness and flavor.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Once the chicken tenders are cooked to a crispy golden brown, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately with the dipping sauce on the side.

                                            Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 4

Optional Presentation Tips: Arrange the chicken tenders on a serving platter with the dipping sauce in a small bowl in the center. Garnish with additional chopped herbs for a pop of color and freshness. Pair with fresh vegetable sticks or a light salad to complete the meal!
