Ingredients

4 whole wheat pita breads

2 medium apples (preferably Fuji or Gala)

2 tablespoons coconut oil or melted butter

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Optional: granola or chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven heats up, prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Pita Chips: Take each pita bread and cut it into 8 equal triangles. In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted coconut oil (or butter), granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until the mixture is homogeneous.

Coat the Pita: Using a brush, lightly coat both sides of each pita triangle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture, making sure they are evenly covered. Arrange the coated pita triangles in a single layer on the lined baking sheet to ensure they bake evenly.

Bake the Chips: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the pita chips for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to turn them halfway through the baking time to achieve an even golden brown color and crisp texture. Keep a close watch during the last few minutes to avoid burning!

Prepare the Apple Slices: While the pita chips are baking, wash and core the apples. Slice them thinly and immediately toss the slices in lemon juice to keep them fresh and prevent browning.

Make the Yogurt Dip: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Stir the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired.

Serve: Once the pita chips are baked to perfection, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Serve the warm baked apple pita chips alongside the creamy yogurt dip. For an added crunch and visual appeal, garnish with a sprinkle of granola or chopped nuts if you wish. Enjoy this delightful snack!
